Unlock The Mentor Text Curriculum Today! You’re a middle school ELA Teacher who is bogged down in grading and prep.
You know that your middle schoolers need direct instruction, so they apply their learning immediately.
You also know your students need daily opportunities for reading and writing along with consistent feedback from you to improve.
You're wearing yourself out trying to find the perfect combination of effective resources that don't bore your students...
You want structures and resources that allow you to have a life outside of teaching while still getting results...
... so you can go home and do whatever you want.
You're living with the Sunday scaries, all while feeling like you have nothing to show for the work you're putting in each week.
- You have felt like your eyeballs have about fallen out on Sunday nights while searching the entire internet for engaging lessons that will get results.
- You might be like I was in my first year, and have been surviving week by week, even though you want your ELA content to all work together.
- Many nights spent pouring over stacks of papers to assess your student's work and provide meaningful feedback... only to watch them throw it in the trash when you hand it back.
- You are utilizing ELA websites or worksheets that you hope will have some osmosis effect... only to have them start clicking through the lessons after a couple of weeks.
ELA Teaching Methods and Practices that Produce Results
My middle school ELA students increased their ELA proficiency scores by 70% after just two years of me implementing these teaching, assessing, and planning strategies.
The methods and lesson plans in each unit are designed to get students reading, writing, discussing, and analyzing on a daily basis.
The results? Students drastically increase their reading and writing volume while improving daily.
A Daily Lesson Plan Framework and Structure
All of the Masterful Mentor Text Units use the same framework and structure to get you and students maximum impact: Our Breakdown, Build, Implement, and Ignite Mentor Texts Model does exactly what it sounds like.
Teachers and students are set up for teaching success with a breakdown of the concepts in daily standard-aligned lesson slides so students can build their knowledge through interactive notebook lessons.
Teachers and students immediately implement their knowledge with the teacher modeling by reading, analyzing, and writing about the Masterful Mentor Text.
Students now have all the knowledge and modeling they need to ignite their own reading, analyzing, and writing of their own independent novel or text.
A Tried and True System to Grade and Assess In Class
Part of what makes students improve so quickly is the systems that allow you to assess and grade in class.
Not only do you get to go home at night and do whatever the heck you want...
...but you also give your students daily and consistent feedback for them to apply immediately.
I have LOVED the community that comes with the curriculum.
Having the FB group to go to when I have questions about different resources or simply browsing to find inspiration and see how other teachers are using it has been incredible to me.
My school provides a curriculum, but it's very difficult to navigate to change to meet my students' needs, and honestly, it is so huge it's overwhelming.
The resources provided via this curriculum program have so many diverse options that feel less stressful and overwhelming to work through. The videos and supplemental things provided help me see exactly how to use what's included.
It's easier for me to see another teacher in action and then try to do the same than just to be handed bundles of materials without a bigger picture idea of how to implement them.
– KENZIE CAUDILL
The prep, resources, and scaffolding are unmatched. It helps me feel confident in what I am teaching and helps raise the level of rigor. I like the lack of "Googleable" answers!!!!.
I teach in a very small district. I am the only ELA teacher for 6-8 grade. I found some of Martina's resources and they made life so much easier being scaffolded for all 3 grades! After finding these resources, I knew I wanted more.
I started researching the membership and discovered it was the perfect opportunity to support the resources I already had. The more resources I downloaded, the more I realized I could raise the rigor for students. I have raised the level of my students' ability to analyze a variety of texts.
Before joining, I was worried about investing in something that doesn't "go" with the materials and books I already had. I was afraid it would take me too long to go through the materials and implement them. And I was nervous I would feel like the materials weren't "authentic" to me, and I would feel like an imposter teaching with these resources. Needless to say, all of these hesitations were wrong!!
I feel that the resources scaffold perfectly while challenging students to raise their level of work on every step. I love the community. I like reading through the questions and answers. I get so many ideas and ah-ha moments reading others' questions and posts. It is amazing. I love that Martina engages in a positive manner to all feedback!

Of course, The Masterful Mentor Text Curriculum Program has resources and tools to support you, but that's just the beginning. The real magic is how every element works together to truly support you in every aspect of teaching.
Let me show you...
These exclusive training videos will guide you through the following:
- Creating an entire year of pacing and planning
- Developing a daily class period structure for maximum impact
- Selecting mentor text novel studies that fit with your teaching style or district's curriculum.
- A complete framework for teaching ALL the ELA standards no matter how long your class periods are.
Not only will you get these seven exclusive training videos, you'll also get an implementation video for each unit included in the curriculum.
The six reading units were thoughtfully designed for teachers to take students through all the ELA standards.
- Each day, students are introduced to a concept, the teacher models the concept application immediately with their mentor text, and then students are asked to think beyond the text with their own novels and responses or discussions.
- Students aren't just checking off a list of concepts... they are digging deeper into each one.
- Students will learn and apply literature, nonfiction, poetry, and drama reading concepts as outlined in the standards.

My Mentor Sentences Grammar Curriculum Units are my most popular resources... and it's for good reason.
- Each bundle will engage your students in their grammar instruction.
- Students will actually apply it to their writing.
- Weekly sentences pulled from popular middle grade and young adult novels.
- They are designed so students develop a conceptual understanding of the grammar skills they need to be successful readers and writers.
- This is not a worksheet and test grammar curriculum. This is an authentic grammar curriculum that will have students immediately apply their learning.

The quality and quantity of resources available to me!
Before The Hungry Teacher's Curriculum Program, I was an elementary school teacher (K-2) before I joined.
I have been extremely successful in middle school with your help. I cannot imagine how I would have done without you guys! You all have given me my planning time back. Since I am not stressed about finding materials or worrying about getting things together for the next unit, I can put all of my energy into intervention.
As an Intensive Reading teacher, this gives me the structure I require to keep things well managed, but also the freedom to work on individual goals. The quality and quantity of resources available to me!
– ALICIA DUHON
6TH-8TH GRADE ELA TEACHER
I have been able to dive deeper into the curriculum and standards to align with our reading selections.
Before the curriculum program, we struggled to keep up with our pacing. My lessons were all over the place, and nothing was organized.
Since joining, I've been able to have continuity- being able to have a routine for myself and my students.
I have been able to dive deeper into the curriculum and standards to align with our reading selections. I love that the resources have opened my eyes to different strategies and approaches to curriculum.
I am able to meet my students' needs in more ways than before.
– AMBER RAMIREZ
6TH AND 7TH GRADE ELA TEACHER
I have been able to reduce (and close to eliminate!) my planning time as all the resources are already provided.
I was new to teaching ELA for middle school, and I was very overwhelmed. I needed a lot of time to prep and plan, especially since ELA has a lot of standards and multiple subjects to teach.
I have been able to reduce (and close to eliminate!) my planning time as all the resources are already provided.
I can pick and choose from the bell ringers, mentor sentences, and writing activities to do for the day.
My students have also been writing a lot more than they used to, and I can give feedback sooner. No surprises, but I love how organized it is!
– CARMELA DAVIDISON
5TH-8TH GRADE ELA TEACHER
I'm Martina!
My worst year of teaching ended up being the best thing that ever happened to me...
In my most recent years of teaching middle school ELA, my students increased their volume of writing from a few sentences each day to almost two pages daily.
Teir reading volume went from basically nothing to finishing multiple novels during each 3-4 week unit.
Their ELA proficiency test scores increased from 10% to 80% in my first two years of teaching.
Despite that considerable increase in their reading and writing volume quantity and quality, I never brought any grading home.
But it wasn’t always this way.
Prior to teaching seventh and eighth-grade ELA, I had been in a sixth-grade ELA position that just about had me leave teaching altogether.
My sixth-grade students hated reading, produced very little writing, and had minimal stamina or motivation during any of our district and state tests.
I was given a scripted curriculum to "improve student test scores," and it was making my students HATE reading and writing more than before.
I was required to be part of a new teacher training cohort that had to submit lesson plans and would also "improve" and support my teaching when it was a time-suck that added even more work to my already full plate.
I now had triple the amount of students (and grading) than I'd ever experienced. My new school's plan and prep time were half what I had in my previous school.
We were all bored, I was burnt out by October, and my classroom management was a survival-mode strategy.
I kept wishing that I had a magical solution that would give me helpful support and teaching resources that were engaging, flexible, practical, and helped my students improve.
...And I started creating the resources found in the Masterful Mentor Texts Curriculum Program.
It has everything I wished I'd had during that tough year.
Some of it was even created during that first year, as I learned first-hand what types of resources, units, and support middle school ELA teachers really needed.
You should give The Hungry Teacher's Masterful Mentor Texts Curriculum Program a 72-hour risk-free shot if you're motivated by any of the following:
You want your life back... really badly.
Whether it's your super demanding teaching job or being completely consumed with outside responsibilities that keep getting tacked on to your full plate, you're fully aware that you don't have the time, resources, or support you TRULY need to be living your best teacher life.
More importantly, you'd prefer not to spend the rest of your teaching career flirting with burnout on the never-ending hamster wheel of always planning, prepping, and grading and instead prefer to say yes to things like time with friends, family, or even just by yourself watching some good reality TV.
That's why you're motivated beyond measure to invest in yourself with resources, support, and systems to set you up for a successful school year that can dramatically alter the rest of your teaching career.
You're a brand new teacher just getting started and want to get it "right."
Whether you're fresh out of student teaching or brand-new to middle school ELA, teaching English to 100s of students is a whole different ball game. It's one of the best jobs in the world, but you're also going to be learning your best and worst strategies for classroom management, how to switch from the sweet, focused class to the after-lunch rowdy one, and how to work the dang copier.
Having resources, support, and training at your fingertips anytime you need it, gives you the ability to spend your hours at school to figure out your teaching style and the day-to-day things, instead of going home and spending EVEN MORE hours prepping, planning, and grading.
You are already spending hours outside of school searching for lessons on Pinterest, TpT, or an old filing cabinet.
First, I give you permission to recycle everything in that filing cabinet. Next, if you're spending hours looking for resources and lessons, I know you're already trying to be the best teacher you can be. You shouldn't have to spend hours doing the Pinterest scroll. You should be enjoying your time outside of your job.
The Masterful Mentor Texts Curriculum Program has 100% ready-to-go units that will last you a year.
Of course, you want them to be effective and standard-aligned, so all units work together to cover and dig deeper into every literature, nonfiction, writing, grammar, and speaking and listening standard for middle school ELA.
You can have peace of mind that you will teach effective lessons that engage students and produce results.
You're so ready to have a stress-free year, with more time to do the things you love.
By now, you fully understand that when it comes to teaching middle school ELA, spending some time to create a solid plan and structure at the start of the year will set you up for success for the rest of the school year.
This doesn't scare you.
It lights you up!
You appreciate that having the resources, frameworks, and systems in place from the beginning will give you a huge advantage over those previous years of making it up as you go.
You're ready, willing, and excited to dive in and set yourself up for your most effective and efficient school year yet.
And because The Masterful Mentor Texts Curriculum Program has the scope and sequence, the resources, the training, the community, and support, you have total confidence that each moment you spend utilizing everything the program offers will pay off dramatically in the coming months and years.
