Each of the reading units (realistic fiction, historical fiction, nonfiction, drama, poetry/verse, and dystopian) has a mentor text for each grade level. These are the texts that all my reading response examples use. If you want to use my examples exactly as is, you will want to look for the genre, the grade level, and the text that says, "mentor text." For example, the sixth grade realistic fiction mentor text is Ghost by Jason Reynolds. If the image says "extra text" that means it's not used for any of my reading response examples, but you can still use the novel study as an alternative by just adapting my examples.
